Mashamba Academy reward dedicated players

Several players of the Mashamba Soccer Academy playing in the Safa Vhembe MMK Administrators’ league recently received awards for their achievements during an event held at Makhamba.

According to the team manager, Ms Mercy Rambau, the main purpose of the function was to motivate the players. She applauded those who received awards as the team regards them as role models for other younger people. "You are the ambassadors of our team," she said.

When addressing the guests, Mr Freddy Mashamba praised the management of Academy for their dedication, saying that running an amateur team had more challenges than a professional team.

He appealed to the young players to stay away from sexual activities, drugs and alcohol and emphasized that they must work hard in the classroom and on the sports field. “Sport is an important vehicle to cause harmonious interaction between people,” he said.

He added that he was proud of the quality of sports development in the Hlanganani area, and Vhembe as a whole.

The players who received trophies, medals or certificates for their achievements were: Edward Tshiluka (players’ player of the season); Charles Mashamba (most disciplined player); Mpfunzeni Rambau (most improved player); Edward Tshiluka (chairman’s award), Lufuno Mulaudzi (goal of the season) and best defender, Mulisa Seluka.
