The annual Mabena Soccer Challenge will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Mashamba grounds.
Sixteen teams based in the area will contest the event. According to the organiser, Ms Mercy Rambau, they will use the grounds of the Mashamba Soccer Academy for the event.
The overall champions will go home with a cash prize of R15 000, new kit, a floating trophy and gold medals. The runners-up will receive R10 000, new kit and silver medals. The third-placed team will receive R5 000 and bronze medals, while the team in fourth position will receive R3 500.
Saturday’s fixtures are: Mpheni Home Defenders vs Makhitha Oscar Stars (09:00), Mashamba Soccer Academy vs FC Mazhakandila (11:00), Polokwane FC vs Lambani Giant Killers (13:00) and Magau United vs Masakona United (15:00).
The fixtures for Sunday are: Mashamba United Brothers vs Mashamba Shinning Stars, Mukondeni Shooting Stars vs Wayeni Sea Robbers, Mukondeni United vs Sambandou United Professionals and Bokisi Scientist vs Muwaweni Lucky Stars.
The final will be played on 10 August.

In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
