Teams gear up for Tshikosi Soccer Tournament

 

Sixteen teams from all over Vhembe are to participate in the Tshikosi Pre-Season Soccer Tournament that will start this weekend.

All matches will be played at the Makonde Home Defenders grounds. Four matches will be played tomorrow (Saturday) and four matches on Sunday.

The toss for the last 16 matches was conducted at the Tshikosi Bar Lounge in Makonde yesterday (Thursday). Teams that will battle it out in the tournament are: Dipeni FC, Khubvi Dangerous Darkies, United Artists, Ficus FC Rambuda Young Fighters, Mulodi Freedom Birds, Thenzheni Liverpool, Bale United FC, Mukula Young Santos, Mukula Jamaican Stars, Ngovhela XI Experience, Tshanzhe Pre-Mighty, Thengwe Flying Peace, Vondwe XI Bullets, Musasenda Big Five and Tshisikamulilo FC.

According to the chief organizer of the tournament, Mr Nndavheleseni Makhado, the first match is scheduled to start at 09:00.

Makhado said that the champions would take home R8 000. The runners-up will receive R4 000, while the third- and fourth-placed sides will each receive R2 000.  Makhado appealed to the teams to demonstrate good behaviour throughout the tournament, saying any form of misconduct would not be tolerated.

The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played next Saturday and Sunday (August 17 and 18).
