Eight teams who qualified for the quarter-finals will participate in the Mabena Soccer Tournament at the Mashamba grounds today (Friday).

Ms Mercy Rambau, coordinator of the tournament, expressed her appreciation towards the sponsors. "Despite the difficult economic conditions, we still find companies that are prepared to share their takings and support sport," she added.

The winner of the competition will receive R15 000 and a new soccer kit, while the runners-up will receive R10 000 and a soccer kit.

The fixtures are Magau United vs Muwaweni Lucky Stars (09:00), followed by Sambandou United Professionals vs Polokwane FC, Mashamba Soccer Academy vs Wayeni Sea Robbers and Mpheni Home Defenders and Mashamba Shinning Stars at 15:00.

The winners of the four matches will play in the semis and finals on Saturday at the same venue.
