Who will be the Tshikosi champions?

This year’s champions of the Tshikosi Soccer Tournament will be crowned at the Makonde Home Defenders grounds on Sunday.

Mukula Young Santos will face the winner in the match between Thenzheni Liverpool and Sambandou United Professionals, which is scheduled to start at 10:00.

Sambandou United Professionals, or Sapro as they are affectionately called, will battle it out for a place in the semi-final stage at the same venue tomorrow morning.

United Professionals beat Vondwe XI Bullets 4-0 in their quarterfinal match last weekend. Young Santos will pin their hopes on Maanda Munyai, Rotondwa Matamela and Remember Mandaha for goals.

Young Santos came back from a 0-1 deficit to beat Rambuda Young Fighters 6-5 in their quarter-final match at the same venue last weekend. Dipeni FC and Mulodi Freedom Birds will meet in the second semi-final, which is scheduled to kickoff at 12:00.

Dipeni brutally walloped Musasenda Big Five 6-1 last weekend. Rudzani Thabo was unstoppable in the game and scored a hat trick.

Whether the Freedom Birds’ defenders, Dzivhuluwani Simba and Tshilidzi Mundalamo, will have enough strength to stop the goal poachers for Dipeni, Rudzani Thabo, Takalani Ramagalela and Rotondwa Mutsivhuli, remains to be seen.

Freedom Birds’ way to the semis went via United Artists, whom they narrowly beat 1-0. The goal through which Freedom Birds secured a place in the semis came via Edwin “Cafu” Ramphabana towards the end of the game.

The champions will take home R8 000, the runners-up R4 000 and the third- and fourth-placed sides will each receive R2 000.
