Last eight fixture for Murunwa challenge

Eight teams will play in the quarter-finals of the Murunwa TVET College soccer challenge at Muduluni tomorrow (Saturday).

The winner of the competition will receive R6 500, a floating trophy, soccer kit and gold medals, while the runners-up will receive R5 000, soccer kit and silver medals.

The third-placed team will go home with R4 000 and bronze medals and the team in fourth position will receive R3 000. The teams that end from fifth to eighth position will get R900 each.

Mr David Mpfuru, coach of Tshiozwi Mates, expressed his joy with the team's performance. He added that their preparations were well under way “and my boys are looking forward to this challenge. These young players have the energy and the hunger for success. Coaching these boys has brought nothing but joy as I have seen how they have grown in confidence each year”.

Mr Sylvester Mulaudzi of Magau Mighty Green said that the competition was about pride and honour. “The competition is tight and the standard extremely high. There are scouts from the clubs there, which adds more pressure on our players."

Tomorrow’s fixtures are Chris United/Mira Black Pull vs Matika FC at 09:00; Magau Mighty Green vs Tshiozwi Mates at 11:00. Manavhela Ablex FC vs Muduluni Young Chiefs at 13:00. Madombidzha Celtic/Zamen All Blacks vs Ramantsha Lotavha FC.

Kaizer Nengovhela

Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter.
