Final hurdles for King Abraham KO

The quarter-final matches of the King Abraham Pre-Season KO competition will be staged at the Sambandou grounds tomorrow.

The day’s programme will start with the match between Tshandama Try Together and Gondeni Big Cat at 08:30. Tshandama’s way to the quarter-final stage went via Madridtas FC, whom they beat 3-2 in their last-16 stage last weekend. The winner was determined through penalty shootout after a goalless full-time draw.

Rambuda Young Fighters will lock horns with Dipeni FC at 10:30. Dipeni beat Mukula Young Santos 2-1 to secure a place in the quarter-final. Tshatshingo Potholes will have a date with Makonde Youth soon afterwards.

Makonde Youth must find ways to stop the Potholes’ playmakers, Vhulenda Netshiavha and Mulamuleli Netshidzivhe, or else they will not know what will have hit them at end of the day.

The day’s programme will be wrapped up by the match between Tswera Hot Chillies and Muledzi Fire Boys. Fire Boys will pin their hopes on Nyelisani Makuya and Thinawanga Munyai for goals.

The winners in the quarter-final matches will meet in the semi-final stage at the same venue the following day (Sunday). According to one of the organizers of the tournament, Mr Nndavheleseni Makhado, the toss for the semi-final matches will be conducted at the grounds shortly after the last quarter-final match tomorrow.

The winners in the semi-final matches will meet in the final at the same venue on Sunday afternoon.

According to Mr Makhado, the champions will receive R8 000 and a floating trophy and the runners-up R4 000. Teams that will be defeated in the semi-final stage will each receive R2 000. A consolation prize of R600 is awaiting teams that will be kicked out in the quarter-final stage.

The best keeper, best player, best coach and the top goal scorer will receive individual awards during a ceremony that will be held at the grounds shortly after the final game on Sunday.
