Will Marude retain the Irfani trophy?

 

The sixth edition of the Irfani Choice Build Soccer Tournament will be staged at the Thohoyandou Technical High School grounds tomorrow.

As usual, four schools will take part in the annual event. The schools are Marude Secondary, Thohoyandou Technical High, Thohoyandou Secondary and Fhatuwani Secondary.

According to one of the organizers of the tournament, Mr Mbonisi Ndlovu, the draw for the semi-final matches was conducted during a meeting held at the Thohoyandou Technical High School last Friday. Thohoyandou Secondary and Thohoyandou Technical will meet in the first semi-final at 08:00.

The second match will be between Marude Secondary and Fhatuwani Secondary at 10:00.

The teams that will be booted out in the semi-final stage will meet in their losers’ final at 14:00. The winners in the semi-final matches will meet in the final later in the afternoon.

According to Ndlovu, this year’s champion will receive R1 300, soccer kit, gold medals, a certificate and a soccer ball. The runners-up will take home R800, soccer kit, silver medals, a certificate and a soccer ball. The third-placed side will receive R500, bronze medals, a certificate and a soccer ball, while the last team on the log will go home with R400, a certificate and a soccer ball.

The best player of the tournament, the best keeper and the top goal scorer will receive R200, a trophy and a certificate. The best coach and the best referee will each receive R300, a trophy and a certificate.
