“We lost to a better team” coach Nemasisi

JDR Stars did not lose to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) because they were not ready for the game, but simply because TTM had a better game plan than the visitors from Pretoria.

This was the short message from the owner and coach of JDR Stars, Mr Nditsheni Nemasisi, when he spoke to a contingent of journalists shortly after his team lost 1-3 to TTM in their GladAfrica Championship League game at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday.

Mr Nemasisi said that although they had squandered a number of scoring chances, the home side was by far the better side in all departments. “Should they continue to play that kind of football, I can guarantee you that TTM will go places,” said Mr Nemasisi. The defeat was the first for JDR Stars in nine league matches. The Stars were leading the pack before their match against TTM. They dropped to the second position on the log after the defeat.

The victory was the first for TTM under the guidance of the new head coach, Mr Erol Akbay. Asked what the victory meant to him as the head coach and the team itself, Mr Akbay said that he had mixed feelings about the result of the game. He revealed that he was happy because they had managed to score three goals, something that was good for boosting the team’s morale in their coming games.

Mr Akbay further said that the fact that his team had lost cohesion in the middle of the park towards the end of the game was a worrying factor for him. He again stated that they would be working on the players’ fitness this week.

TTM opened their account through Thembisani Nevhulamba when he beat the keeper with a header, two minutes before the half-time whistle. Phumelele Bhengu scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 in the 68th minute. Their third goal came via Nhlanhla Mgaga 10 minutes before the final whistle. The Stars pulled one back through Olwethu Ncube during the referee’s optional time.
