Can Young Stars shine over Real Mighty Girls?

A normal weekend awaits the teams campaigning under the banner of the Sasol Women’s League this weekend. Five matches will be played at various venues throughout the province on Saturday, while two are scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

After holding Sisters FC to a goalless draw at the Tshandama Grounds last Sunday, Tshandama Young Stars will be on the road this weekend. They will undertake a journey to Xikukwani village outside Giyani on Saturday. Their match against Real Mighty Girls will be played at the Xikukwani Stadium.

Young Stars are still to win a league match this season. They shared the spoils with their opponents in their last two matches. Young Stars played to a goalless draw with Two for Joy Ladies at the Tshandama Grounds two weeks ago. They again failed to use their home-ground advantage when they shared the spoils with Sisters FC at the same venue last Sunday.

The technical team of Mighty Girls are still battling to find a winning combination so far. The team is currently lying in the sixth spot on the log standings with six points. They have won only one of the seven matches that they have played to date. Stopping the Stars’ goal poachers, Arinao Mudzielwana and Ndulamiso Ndou, will not be an easy task for Mighty Girls.

Rodadau FC will host Sisters FC at the Muziafera Grounds outside Vuwani. Merwe United Ladies will entertain Two for Joy Ladies at the Merwe Stadium outside Malamulele. Merwe United are perched at the bottom of the log. Just like Tshandama Young Stars, Merwe are still to win a league match this season.

Sealene Ladies will pay a visit to University of Limpopo Ladies at the Turfloop Stadium in Polokwane.  Sunday’s fixtures are: Kanatla Ladies vs Mandebele Happy Fighters Ladies, Marumo Gallants vs Seven Stars Ladies and Copper Belts vs Capricorn Sport Development.
