Black Leopards need one point in final match to be safe

Sport - Date: 17 May 2024

The Thohoyandou Stadium is expected to be packed to capacity when Black Leopards will test their strength against NB La Masia FC in their final Motsepe Foundation Champions League match for the season.

Should they fail to beat Black Leopards on Sunday, La Masia will reach the end of the road in the Motsepe Foundation Championship League. La Masia are perched in the second-to-last position on the log with 31 points, six better than Platinum City Rovers. City Rovers have already been relegated to the ABC Motsepe League.

Lidoda Duvha need at least one point in the match to retain their status for at least another season. Should La Masia beat Black Leopards, and Marumo Gallants and Milford FC win their matches, the Thohoyandou side will face the chop. Black Leopards and La Masia lost their matches last weekend. Leopards were beaten 0-2 by Hungry Lions at the Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium in Upington, while La Masia lost 0-1 to Marumo Gallants.

JDR Stars will host Maritzburg United at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium outside Pretoria. If they manage to collect the full points, JDR Stars will secure a place in the promotional playoffs.

Marumo Gallants will take on Orbit College FC at the Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg. Milford FC will have a date with Pretoria Callies at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban. The other fixtures are University of Pretoria vs Baroka FC, Upington City vs Casric Stars, Platinum City Rovers vs Hungry Lions, and Magesi FC vs Venda Football Club.
