Veteran local gospel and multiple award-winning star Paul Mulaudzi is a happy man. The reason for his happiness is that he has signed a long-awaited management deal with former radio personality and now businessman Daniel Mbulaheni Singo.

Mulaudzi, whose musical career dates back to 1985, said one of the stumbling blocks for his career was the lack of proper management on his part. “I’m one of the first artists to promote Tshivenda indigenous traditional gospel music on radio and television. For more than 30 years, some people took me for a ride, because I did not have a manager to take care of my musical affairs. Having recorded more than 20 albums without a manager, I have no doubt that Mr Singo’s presence will add value to my musical career. I have also realized that most artists are not doing well because they don’t have managers who look after their affairs.”

A staunch member of the Holiness Church of Christ, Mulaudzi said Singo came at the right time when he (Mulaudzi) was receiving financial support from Sam Ntshauba of Nzhelele Funeral Undertakers to record his albums. “My new manager’s job will be easier as he will not be starting from scratch.” 

Widely known as “Papa Dan” in the entertainment industry, Singo worked as a presenter for the former Radio Thohoyandou before going into business. He says he feels strongly about the well-being of artists, because he has personally experienced their hardships. “I know of artists whose promising careers were doomed because of a lack of management. I am very proud to be associated with a veteran artist like Paul Mulaudzi, because people of his talent are in short supply in today’s world. I want to rebuild his brand and make sure that he continues to shine and satisfy his fans time and again.”

Singo said his new role would include marketing and distributing Mulaudzi’s music, organizing gigs, administering social media platforms and building Mulaudzi’s musical brand to be among the best in the country. “We discussed a lot of things around our working relationship before we reached consensus to sign the deal. This will be a long-lasting relationship which will go down in the history books of local gospel music. Mulaudzi will lead a live big bash for veteran Limpopo artists, which will be staged soon at a date and venue to be announced soon.”
