“There is no one above me, except God” - Tshivhase

News - Date: 12 October 2012

History was made at Ngwenani ya Themeli village last Sunday when three chiefs (misanda) were installed during a ceremony held at the local chief’s kraal.

The trio, Vhamusanda Vho-Albert Themeli, Mavhungu Themeli and Foster Themeli, will be responsible for the Thondoni, Tshitongwe and Madadani areas respectively. Their ndumis (assistants) are Nditsheni Themeli, Fhatuwani Themeli and Maanda Themeli. Mr Maanda Themeli is a well-known figure in football circles and is, among others, the head coach of Madombidzha Arsenal FC.

During the ceremony, Thovhele Vho-Midiyavhathu Kennedy Tshivhase said that the installation of the three misanda was in line with the resolution taken by the Tshivhase Traditional Council two years ago. In terms of the resolution, the Tshivhase area of jurisdiction has now been divided into 20 regions.

The regions will be headed by  different Thovhele. Tshivhase announced during the ceremony that a local senior traditional leader, Khosi Vho-Tshinyiwaho Mugowashango Themeli, was promoted to Thovhele and that he will head the Ngungwema Region.

Tshivhase appealed to the newly installed misanda not to become bigheaded, saying he would dethrone them and install new misanda who are prepared to take his instructions. “I am deploying you; if you become bigheaded, I will recall immediately,” he said. He further said that no one was above him, except God, adding he had all the power to install and dethrone.

Tshivhase further indicated that all the regions have until 31 December this year to implement the resolution taken by the council, failing which the defaulters will be charged with refusal to take a lawful instruction. He concluded by indicating that the Tshivhase dynasty will celebrate Tshivhase Day tomorrow, 13 October 2012. Representatives from the various structures, including Contralesa, the Pastors’ Forum and civic associations, also shared the podium during the ceremony.
