HA-MAVHUNGA – History was made last Saturday when Thovhele Toni Mphephu visited Mavhunga Village as part of his mission to strengthen the ties of friendship with his subordinates.
During a colourful ceremony, Thovhele Mphephu said the Vha-Venda have always been a humanitarian people with a unique culture. According to Mphephu there would be no development in the whole Venda if people were still involved in demarcation clashes.
He added that the issue of demarcation should be discussed peacefully.
On behalf of Mayor BM Tlakula, Cllr Fhulufhelo Kone said the Makhado Municipality is there to serve its people. "This government is for the people and it is written in the Freedom Charter that the people shall govern," she said.
According to her, the municipality has funded many community projects to alleviate poverty, but due to negligence, some projects have collapsed. The municipality will install an electricity transformer to pump water for the people of Mavunga, who are facing serious water shortages.
