MADOMBIDZHA - History was made at Litshovhu High School on Monday when the Goldfields Foundation handed over eight classrooms, a library, a laboratory and toilets to the school. The building was constructed at a cost of R 1,2 million rands.
The pupils of the overcrowded school at Litshuvhu were ecstatic on Monday when Mr Mike Prinsloo, Project Manager of Goldfields, told the parents, other school principals and pupils that he chose Litshovhu because there is a need for classrooms and other proper facilities.
During the handing-over of the classes, Prinsloo said he hoped the classrooms, library and laboratory would be used in such a manner that it would be to the benefit of the pupils, ensuring an improvement of their end-of-year pass rate. He concluded that the pupils should also work hard at the end of the year and treat the classes, toilets, library and laboratory with care.
The headmaster of the school, Mr TT Mulaudzi, said the building came at the right time, as they are unable to cater for about 1 170 pupils. He also expressed his joy by thanking Mr Prinsloo and his company.
Prof Herry Nengwekhulu, Superintendent General of the Department of Education, praised the donors for helping the government in the provision of classrooms. He also praised the principal and his staff, together with the community, for their dedication and commitment by trying to do something, instead of waiting for the government. He also applauded the community of Madombidzha who collected funds to build four classes.
Nengwekhulu promised that the school would receive furniture, books for the library and laboratory equipment soon.
