A 17-year-old Musina High School pupil, Nathaniel Kgatla, recently represented the country in Tanzania.

The young leader from Musina was part of a group of young people who participated in the OR Tambo Edu-tour. The tour was organised by the Somafaco Trust, in partnership with the National Heritage Council (NHC) of South Africa.

The OR Tambo Edu-tour is aimed at giving young people the opportunity to learn about the history of the Solomon Mahlangu Freedom College, the ANC and the freedom fighters who died in exile while mobilising an underground war to challenge the apartheid government.

Kgatla gained this opportunity after participating in the National Heritage Council Outreach Programme in October of 2012, where he and three other pupils from Musina High, Mpho Brian Tlou, Tshifhiwa Mokone and Polite Singo, won first place in the NHC Outreach Competition.

They also won R25 000 worth of books for their school.
