The new leader of Ramavhoya village, Chief Abraham Ramavhoya.
History was rewritten last Friday when the energetic Mr Abraham “Thifhindulwi” Ramavhoya officially stepped into the boots of his late father. He was installed as the new chief of Ramavhoya village in the Nzhelele area.
The throne became vacant when Abraham’s father, Andries Ramavhoya, passed away in 2012.
When conducting the installation, Khotsimunene Vho-David “Japan” Mphephu Ramabulana said that residents of Ramavhoya were like confused sheep without a shepherd after the death of their beloved traditional leader in 2012. He said a new chapter in the village leadership had been opened.
He advised the new leader to work hand in hand with different stakeholders for the development of his community. He further told him that he was installed during a time of transformation and that he was now part of the political dispensation. “Attend different meetings with the municipality, traditional leadership organisations and other community structures, so that you keep your community up to date. Never disobey the royal council because it is the only pillar of your strength."
He warned the new ruler against segregation and favouritism regarding his subjects. "Your duty is to lead the people, but you must also listen to what they say because you cannot be a leader without them. Treat all your subjects equally and without discrimination. Respect your subjects, so that they give you the same respect in return,” he added.
“The new traditional leadership name is Thifhindulwi. I urge you to give him complete respect as you did to his father," said Khotsimunene Mphephu Ramabulana. He also mentioned that the new headman’s father had been a hardworking man who strived for the development of his village.
Mr Gerson Mahada from Cooperative Governance Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs advised the new leader to live an exemplary life to gain respect from his community. "You must play an ambassadorial role because you agreed to lead the people.
The ndumi of the new Chief is Eric Ramavhoya and the khadzi is Patricia Ramavhoya.
