THOHOYANDOU - Good news for those affected by HIV/Aids and the poorest of the poor in Limpopo is that they will now have a permanent shelter, because a good samaritan has opened his hands to give them a new life.
All the proceedings of the Worship House 2005 Live album will be channelled towards the erection of a rehabilitation centre and an HIV/AIDS clinic at Shayandima, outside Thohoyandou. The initiative will benefit more than ten villages and thousands of community members who were desperately in need of social and spiritual assistance.
Worship House is a renowned Limpopo gospel music group who made history when they were nominated for the SAMA Awards lately, just a few months after venturing into the music industry. The official launch of the rehabilitation centre and the HIV/Aids clinic project took place at the capacity-filled Thohoyandou Town Hall on Sunday.
The occasion also marked the live recording of the Worship House Live 2005 album which will be released early in September. Tennyson Legethe of Gospel Gold was part of the function.
The founder of Worship House Fellowship, Pastor Sakkie Dagada, said there is a need for a rehabilitation centre and an HIV/Aids clinic, because the church has a responsibility of improving the lives of the people, rather than preaching the gospel only. He explained that all members of the band receive no remuneration but they are working on a voluntary basis for the development of the community.
He continued: “We started this project last year when we recorded our debut album Worship House Live 2004, which saw us nominated for the SAMA Awards. The proceedings of that album helped us to start building the rehabilitation centre which will be completed in due course. We will definitely complete the centre and start building the clinic after the sales of our latest album to be released in September. The church must not only satisfy the spiritual needs of the community members, it must also make sure that there is a reasonable balance between the spiritual being of a person and his social humanity. It is not easy to preach the gospel to a person who is not socially stable. We must forget about church and doctrine politics and think more about saving the lost souls of our beloved community members.”
Worship House Live 2005 will be available on DVD, CD, Video and audio cassettes. Like their debut album, the latest offering will be marketed and distributed by Universal Music. The live album is a must-have for music maniacs who have the love to assist the poor in their hearts. The album will automatically penetrate into the tough South African music industry because of the powerful live instrumental mix, worshipping rhythms and well arranged vocals. Songs that will force the gospel music maniacs to put on their dancing shoes include Myipi, Send the fire, Pour out your glory, Zwo naka, Vhuhwavho and God of the breakthrough.
