“Government is prepared for all challenges”

The chairperson of the ANC in Limpopo, Premier Sello Moloto, says today’s world needs people who are well prepared and well engaged to face the challenges of life to carry the spirit of freedom to build a strong country.

Moloto was addressing hundreds of invited delegates during the ANC Vhembe Region Fundraising Dinner held at the Thohoyandou Town Hall last Friday night.

More than R1,8 million was raised during the fundraising, the aim of which is to acquire a decent building for the ANC Vhembe Region. A local business family, the Osman Brothers, pledged R1 million for the construction of the office. Apart from monetary donations from different institutions, CTM Thohoyandou donated R10 000 worth of floor tiles that will be used in the construction of the new office, Try Developers has pledged 50 bags of cement, 10 loads of river sand and another 10 loads of building sand for the project.

Moloto has appealed for unity among party members for the strength of the movement. "The ANC will be here until the end of the world, as long as we are united and strive for a common cause. If we don’t come together, we will be threatening our democracy which we fought hard for. It is the obligation we cannot run away from because our organization has a rich history of unity."

He added that the ANC is prepared for the challenges of the new dispensation. "The contributions that we are making here are not only meant for the ANC, but for everyone who cherishes the fruits of freedom and democracy. We are happy to have individuals and businesspeople who find it necessary to give back to the organization, the little that they have. The ANC is the party of the people and that is why the people do not have a problem in giving something back."

The "prophet" of reggae music, Colbert Mukwevho, and the Thohoyandou Lutheran Church choir entertained guests during the function.

Some of the stakeholders who made financial contributions during the function include Lufuno Mphaphuli & Associates, BIP Consulting, Brink Civils, Phenyo Civils, Black Chain, Vhadodalini Butchery, Magwaba Bus Service, KV3 Consulting, Talifhani Consulting, University of Venda, Muofhe Graceland Lodge, Super Quick, AA Mulaudzi Electrical, Murango Consulting, Nevhutalu Consulting and Martin Mahosi & Associates, to name but a few.

Rivoni School for the Blind nearing completion - at last

The Rivoni School for the Blind in in Njakanjaka village in the Vhembe District has 167 learners from Grade R to Grade 12. The school was started in 2016 by the Rivoni Society for the Blind, founded in June 1975 at Elim Hospital by late Swiss doctor Erwin Sutter. The society later transferred responsibility for the school to the Department of Education.
