Makhado mayor visits local schools

As a result of the announcement of last year´s matric results, the mayor of Makhado Municipality, Cllr Glory Mashaba last week visited some of the schools that had produced excellent results, as well as those that had a zero percent pass rate.

One of the schools that Mashaba visited on Thursday, is Litshovhu Senior Secondary in Madombidzha. Litshovhu made history of having produced three learners that obtained 100% in Mathematics higher grade.

Mashaba told Mirror that she appreciates the good work at the school which includes the dedication of the teachers. She also congratulated the principal of the school, Mr Thomas Mulaudzi for the good management of the school. "We really appreciate that Litshovhu has put the municipality on the map," says Mashaba

Mashaba was accompanied by Cllr Humbulani Mashamba and a Mr Timothy Maanda, a member of the standing committee of education in the province.

Asked how she feels about schools that had not performed very well, those with a 0% pass rate, Mashaba said that the affected schools must address their challenge and problems so that the department of education together with the municipality can assist them. Mashaba visited Tshimbupfe Senior Secondary School in Tshimbupfe on Friday. The school is one of the schools where all the Grade 12’s had failed last year.

Rivoni School for the Blind nearing completion - at last

The Rivoni School for the Blind in in Njakanjaka village in the Vhembe District has 167 learners from Grade R to Grade 12. The school was started in 2016 by the Rivoni Society for the Blind, founded in June 1975 at Elim Hospital by late Swiss doctor Erwin Sutter. The society later transferred responsibility for the school to the Department of Education.
