Teenage pranksters target black residents

News - Date: 26 March 2004

MAKHADO (LOUIS TRICHARDT) – The homes of three black residents of Kameel Street were once again targeted this weekend by teenage pranksters who pelted the houses with water filled condoms and eggs.

At one home, a child who was at the front door was also attacked.

Local Chairman of the DA, Ms Marie Helm, expressed concern this week at the fact that the latest attacks seem to be part of a constant victimization of certain members of the community.

"South Africa is in a very important stage of its history. It is now more important than ever before to build relationships.

"The DA strongly condemns this malicious act. A case has been opened at the SAPS and we wish to urge the police to take this seriously and to follow up on eyewitness reports.

"This is not the first time that such acts have been perpetrated. We hope that these senseless acts will now come to an end," she said.
