Black Leopards have reason to believe they will make Cape Town Spurs pay for the 0-1 defeat they suffered at the hands of Leruma United at the TUT Stadium in Pretoria last Saturday when they meet in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Failure to beat Spurs on Saturday will jeopardise the team’s chances of securing a promotional playoff spot at the end of the season. Lidoda Duvha are currently in 10th place with 23 points, 11 behind the log leaders, Durban City.
Black Leopards will be under the guidance of their new head coach, Mr. Zeca Marques, when they face Spurs on Saturday. Marques was appointed to the team’s hot seat on Monday this week, following the dismissal of Mr. Maxwell Konadu and his assistant, Solly Luvhengo. Konadu’s dismissal came after the team’s string of poor results. Marques was introduced to the players during the team’s training session on Tuesday morning.
Leopards will have only themselves to blame if they fail to beat Spurs on Saturday. Spurs are fighting for survival in second-last place on the log.
Spurs' strikers will have a mammoth task ahead of them in trying to break through the Leopards’ defence, which is marshalled by Sidney Fakude, Siphelele Magubane, and Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali. Donald Makgetlwa and Rafic Namwera will be expected to keep the Leopards’ momentum going in the middle of the park. Spurs rose to the occasion and held Milford FC to a 2-2 draw at the Cape Town Stadium last Friday evening.
The other fixtures are: Hungry Lions vs Leruma United, JDR Stars vs Highbury FC, Milford FC vs Orbit College, Pretoria Callies vs Upington City, Baroka FC vs University of Pretoria, and Kruger United vs Casric Stars.
