Nebo Sixfour in the house

Wisani Nebodzandala (22), or Nebo Sixfour as he is known in the music fraternity, is a rising star from Elim and his music just keeps on endearing him to the hearts of his fans.

He fell in love with music at a very young age, as he was one of those boys who entertained his classmates at Djunane High School by singing and playing ‘drums’ on the desk with pens and rulers.

“I would rap nonstop, to the delight of my classmates. But the fact that almost all my family members really loved music also counted in my favour,” Nebo Sixfour said. He truly believes that the seed of love for music was planted at home. When he was growing up, his elder brother, Wiseman Dumisani Nebodzandala, was already a professional deejay; everyone knew him as ‘DJ Timbila’. His other brother, Amukelani Nebodzandala, was a local rapper, known by the name of “Amunice”.

His passion for music grew and he formed his own band, called West Side Music, with school mates from Elim High School. “We recorded a few singles and an album called From Elim 2 You,” he said. “We tried to put Elim on the map through this album. Elim is undeniably the most developing town in the province with all the villages bordering it and making it a good place for business.”

West Side Music’s artistic dominance and popularity in the area projected Nebo Sixfour into the public eye, so that when he decided to work on his solo project, he already had a name for himself. “I began to work harder and tried to find myself in the music industry,” he said. “I started to make music that mainly focuses on the everyday life of the people around me to help motivate and educate my people in a language they understand, which is Xitsonga.”

His first solo album, NkeluNkelu, came out in 2020 and is available on most online digital platforms for streaming and purchasing.

“I learned to manage and market myself, until I met Collins Skheto Nkambule, who really believed in my music. He was willing to invest in marketing me,” he said. “With his help, I even managed to release a CD.”

“The release of NkeluNkelu afforded me the kind of respect I felt I deserve as an artist,” he said. “My greatest achievement is making music that everyone can listen to and enjoy, no matter their age.”
