Tsiko Mal to record first live album

Entertainment - Date: 31 March 2023

Tsiko Trevor Malindi, whose music career spans more than a decade, will be making history when he records his first live album on 28 April. He invites his fans to join him and become a part of this special project.

The highly celebrated local gospel music star, who enjoys massive support throughout the country, decided to record the live music album as a way of interacting and connecting with his fans. He said his previous albums had all been recorded in a studio, but this time, he wants his fans to feature on the live recording too.

The artist, better known as Tsiko Mal in the gospel music fraternity, was born 30 years ago at Makonde village outside Thohoyandou. He was raised in a Christian family, with his uncle, Fhatuwani Manyatshe, being a head pastor at the local church. His music career already took off at the age of 12, when he sang in the Sunday School choir.

His debut album, Here I am, which became a massive hit among gospel music lovers, was released in 2013, followed by another just-as-successful album, Goodness and Mercy, in 2017. In 2021, he released a single, titled Goliada, which was also very well received by his ever-growing fan base. His last offering was also a single, titled 1 John 4:4, and was released last year.

Tsiko Mal has performed at major music festivals around the country, sharing the stage with countless big names from the South African music industry.

About his upcoming live recording he said: “People love my music wholeheartedly and I thought of a way to thank them for their unending support. When you record music in the studio, you only interact with your band members and sound engineers. It came to my mind that there is a need to have my fans together in one place and sing along with them.”

He said all systems were ready for this live recording, which takes place at the Disciples Christian Worship Centre, near the Mbaleni municipal graveyard, with recording starting at 17:00.

More information about the live recording is obtainable from Tsiko himself on 071 623 4297 (voice calls and WhatsApp).
