Miss Mulima crowned despite many challenges

The much-anticipated crowning of Miss Mulima 2023/24 took place during the third annual event that was held at the Hope of Glory Church in Mulima village on 23 December last year.

The event, which nearly did not take place because of a lack of sponsorships and other challenges, is the brainchild of Ms Marupene Moshakwa. Dignitaries such as Mr Major Moroke of House of Models and Projects, Miss Tshipuseni, Ntwanano Baloyi, and Miss Mulima 2020/21, Cherubim Ngobeni, graced the occasion.

The seven beautiful ladies who made it to the final paraded before a very excited and cheering crowd that added life to the event. After all the parades, the excitement grew even bigger when the winners were announced.

Eighteen-year-old Thalukanyo Maduwa from Vuwani especially stood out for the judges and was crowned Queen of the contest. She went home with a R1,200 cash prize, a certificate, and a Heavenly package. Hulisani Mutholini (21) from Sereni was selected as first princess, and Vhutshilo Selapyana (21) from Mashamba as second princess. Both were awarded certificates and Heavenly packages. Thalukanyo also won the Miss Public Choice 2023/2024 title.

Moshakwa was satisfied that, despite the challenges they had experienced, everything went well. “We are very thankful to everyone who contributed to the success of this event. We cannot say it was smooth sailing, but we managed. From here on, the winners will start visiting schools around February as part of their community outreach. We would appreciate it if all the principals welcome them warmly and give them an opportunity to talk to their learners,” she said.
