Entertainment  Date: 11 October 2024

Fhatuwani Nemakonde, affectionately known as Fistos Valley from Siloam in the Nzhelele Valley, released his new EP, Murangaphanda, on 12 September. The EP encourages unity and cultural celebration. The title Murangaphanda, which translates to "Leader" in Tshivenda, reflects his commitment to uplifting communities and fostering inclusivity.

On his latest EP, Nemakonde features a lineup of talented artists and producers, including Mizo Phyll, Gusba Banana, and Soundslucid.

Nemakonde, who began his journey as a DJ in 2010, said the new EP was inspired by the role he had played on the music scene, hence the name Murangaphanda. The EP caters to both soulful and commercial piano lovers.

“Its message promotes a better life, love, and the unity of different cultures. This project embodies the true essence of leadership, shifting the focus from personal achievement to the growth, success, and empowerment of others,” he said.

After moving to Pretoria for his studies, Nemakonde collaborated with the renowned venue House 22 to host a groundbreaking event called “VIP” - “Vendas in Pretoria.” The event was dedicated to showcasing the finest established and upcoming Venda talent in Gauteng.

This initiative led to partnerships with various artists, allowing him to collaborate with national talent for his popular events. He released multiple songs, including Malende na Domba, featuring Rodger Kb, Pulse, and Mizo Phyll.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nemakonde released the street anthem Mia Vhana, which gained widespread attention. In 2022, he launched Valley O’ Clock, featuring acts such as Murumba Pitch and Jay Sax, with hits such as He Ndaa and Khokhonya becoming anthems.
