Gogobole community shocked by murder of Ambani Mashau

News - Date: 13 September 2024

The Mashau family of Gogobole remain heartbroken after the tragic murder of their beloved family member, Mr Ambani Mashau (33), on Sunday, 8 September, by unknown assailants.

Ambani's body was discovered in his yard, near the door of his home. His younger sister, Ms Ndivhuwo Mashau, recounted how the family had received a call reporting that Ambani had been spotted “sleeping” outside his door. Attempts to reach him by phone were unsuccessful, so Ndivhuwo and other family members rushed to his house. Upon arrival, they found the door to his house still locked, and tragically, Ambani was already dead. He had bite marks on his right hand, and his nose was bleeding slightly.

Ndivhuwo suspects that her brother was murdered elsewhere and that his body was dumped in his yard. His cell phone and wallet were missing, and the family believe he may have been killed for the money he had earned from a piece job earlier that day.

Limpopo police spokesperson Sgt Vuledzani Dathi confirmed that a murder case had been opened and that detectives were investigating. He urged anyone with information about the matter to come forward and contact their nearest police station.

Ambani will be laid to rest on Saturday at Gogobole, with the funeral service scheduled to begin at 06:00.
