BREAKING NEWS: Black Leopards’ coach quits

News in brief - Date: 01 November 2016

The relationship between Black Leopards’ head coach, Mr Jairos Tapera, and the club is now part of history. The Zimbabwean-born mentor tendered his resignation on Monday morning (31 October).

Speaking to Limpopo Mirror, Tapera said that his move would benefit both himself and the club.

His resignation from the team’s hot seat comes after the team lost 2-3 to Stellenbosch FC at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday. Black Leopards were leading 2-0 until the last 20 minutes and conceded three goals in quick succession. Tapera said that after losing two matches at home he felt that it was time he gave way to someone who could come with new ideas. “I did everything within my power, but as a coach I cannot get into the field of play and kick the ball myself,” he said.

Mr Sello Chokoe will take over as the caretaker coach until further notice.
