“Brother” enjoys his career in sport

Well-known sports administrator Mr Kenneth "Brother" Neluvhalani is still a force to be reckoned with.

Neluvhalani started his career as captain of Tshiemuemu High’s soccer team in the 80s and as captain of Chibuku Young Stars FC, which was coached by the former Safa President, Mr Kirsten Nematandani, at the time.

When he completed matric, he went to the University of the North and later became captain and coach of Bobs Squad soccer team. From 1995 to 1999, he joined Makhado College of Education as lecturer and was responsible for sports events. He also served as an executive member of the Limpopo Sport Council.

From 2000 to 2002, he was part of the Sport Coaches Outreach (Score) as the Limpopo provincial coordinator. He joined the University of Limpopo late in 2002 as recreation manager. From 2004 to 2008 he was general secretary of the South Africa taekwondo federation, and from 2006 to 2008 he served as board member of Cycling South Africa.

In 2007 and 2008, he served as head of sport infrastructure, and in 2009 he was appointed as head of football at the University of Pretoria. Currently he is the chairperson of the universities sport of South Africa.

He said that he found sport as a career to be interesting and mentioned that he was hungry for success and worked hard to succeed. He urged young people to be serious about education, so that they can make a significant contribution to the community in which they live.

He said that young people should never despair of their dreams, because sometimes achieving one objective took a little longer. He advised aspiring young sportsmen and -women and administrators to love their work. "In sport, do what you love most in order to have peace of mind. For me, the love of sport supersedes anything else and I never have to drag myself to work as I love my job wholeheartedly."

Kaizer Nengovhela

Kaizer Nengovhela started writing stories for Limpopo Mirror in 2000. Prior to that he had a five year stint at Phala-Phala FM as sports presenter. In 2005 Kaizer received an award from the province's premier as Best Sports Presenter. The same year he was also nominated as Best Sports Reporter by the Makhado Municipality. Kaizer was awarded the Mathatha Tsedu award in 2014.
