Fabulous prizes in Funanani Ndou Attorneys tournament

This weekend marks the beginning of the Funanani Ndou Soccer Tournament. The tournament was officially launched during a ceremony at Khubvi Primary School last Friday, 5 July. Thirty-two teams from around Vhembe will participate in the tournament.

During her keynote address, the sponsor, Ms. Funanani Ndou, expressed her belief that sport serves as a unifying force to bring people together, regardless of their race, culture, or religion. She emphasised that her law firm has a social responsibility to reinvest a portion of its income into the local community.

The chairman of the organising committee, Mr. Avhapfani Nengwekhulu, outlined the tournament's prize structure. The champions will receive R20,000, a soccer kit, a floating trophy, and gold medals. The runners-up will take home R10,000, a soccer kit, and silver medals. Teams eliminated in the semi-final round will each receive R3,500 and a soccer kit, while those exiting in the quarter-finals will be awarded R1,000 each.

The opening matches will be played this weekend, with four matches scheduled for Saturday and another batch of four matches on Sunday. All games will be held at the Khubvi Benjie’s Grounds. The semi-final and final matches are set to take place on Sunday, 4 August.

New leaders were elected during the association’s elective congress, held at the Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre last Saturday.
