Fire Brothers and Young Vultures to clash in Lumveleni last-16 round

The last batch of the round-of-16 matches for the Lumveleni Pre-Season Soccer Tournament will be played at the Ngudza Grounds on Saturday. The opening matches were held at the same venue on Tuesday.

Sixteen teams from across Vhembe are battling it out for the championship. Saturday’s programme will kick off with the match between Khakhanwa Barcelona and Dzingahe FC at 09:00, followed by the clash between Mighty Super Power and Buluni Happy Boys. Tshivhulani Fire Brothers will meet Ngudza Young Vultures in the next fixture, while Makonde FC and Musasenda Big Five will go head to head later in the afternoon.

The winners of Saturday’s games will advance to the quarter-finals, which will be played at the same venue on Sunday. The draw for the quarter-final matches will be conducted after the last game on Saturday.

The champions will take home R12,000, a floating trophy, a soccer kit, and gold medals. The runners-up will receive R7,000, silver medals, and a soccer kit. Teams eliminated in the semi-finals will each receive R1,500. The semi-final and final matches are scheduled to take place at the same venue on Sunday, 6 October.

New leaders were elected during the association’s elective congress, held at the Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre last Saturday. The association was placed under administration in December last year, following several months of internal leadership disputes.
