A young hip-hop artist, Lee'Muvenda, has been mesmerising music lovers in the Makhado area for some years now. His first full-length album is due soon.

He has, however, thought it a good idea to release a single from the forthcoming album to officially give his fans a taste of his music. “The single is entitled Ndi Kale, since people have been waiting for my official music release for some time now,” he said.

This young singer was born Ronewa Given Muneri at Tshiozwi village in the Sinthumule area. He grew up listening to both local and international hip-hop artists. He said that he loved the beats and lyrics of hip hop, and how artists used the words to create both beat and meaning for their music.

“I write my own songs,” he said. “My music journey began on the school grounds during break and after school, where my fellow pupils showed an interest in my music. Now I have come to realise that my music is dope.”

He admitted that writing his own lyrics and finding his voice were not enough. He had to meet other young artists from his area, so they could help him develop his talent. “The boys from my hood included Cee-O, Reason and Sixteen and we then formed a group called Vhafethu Vhasekhaya and recorded our first track My Chance,” he said. “We needed an opportunity in the music industry and we felt that we had received that chance to show the world what we were capable of doing musically. The people appreciated our music.”

After that exposure, he met another highly talented singer in the area, Vhasobie, who ran the crew named The Leaders, and he added a positive influence to his music by introducing him to new rhythm elements. “I joined them and we recorded a lot of hits together,” he said.

In 2015, he met the lead producer in the area, TeddyH, who signed him for his recording stable, Vito-Vibe Music. “I am so blessed to be welcomed by Vito-Vibe family,” he said. “Together with TeddyH, we are putting the final touches on my debut album which will rock the whole of Southern Africa. Believe me, we are the winners.”

Lee'Muvenda's album was recorded at La'Ute Records. All songs were produced by Witty Manyuha. “Songs on my album cater for all age groups, and that's what I love about my music,” he said.

His album is due on 12 August this year. He is available on Facebook as Lee'Muvenda Ronewa Muneri. He can be contacted via his manager, TeddyH, on 072 186 0111.
