A story of love flows from Tiyiselani's pen

No matter what the odds - in the end, love always conquers. At least, this is the conviction of Tiyiselani Bevhula (36), author of the novel Trapped in Love and Trash.

Bevhula, whose debut novel sold more than 2 000 copies nationally, is back with yet another love story, titled Love Always Wins.

“The book tells the story of a couple whose relationship is threatened on a daily basis by their parents. The parents do not accept the lovers’ relationship, as they come from different backgrounds. When their parents try to separate them, their love for each other is put to the test until it is evident that love will always win.”

Unlike Bevhula’s first book, which was mainly aimed at fighting the scourge of gender-based violence, Love Always Wins has a happy ending. “It is about showing the beauty of love and how it can thrive despite challenges and human interference,” he said. “Love is becoming another pandemic people die from (or because of), and it is important that we show the good side of love in that it unites people.”

A media studies graduate from the University of Venda who has worked as a media analyst, writer and editor for different media outlets, Bevhula is also the founder of Bevhula Media, a company that helps other aspiring and upcoming authors to publish their work.

“My love of writing was fuelled by the need to create useful, empowering knowledge in society,” he said. “I have written extensive opinion pieces for leading newspapers and magazines in South Africa, and that experience helped me hone my writing skills.”

Tshifhiwa Mukwevho

Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho was born in 1984 in Madombidzha village, not far from Louis Trichardt in the Limpopo Province. After submitting articles for roughly a year for Limpopo Mirror's youth supplement, Makoya, he started writing for the main newspaper. He is a prolific writer who published his first book, titled A Traumatic Revenge in 2011. It focusses on life on the street and how to survive amidst poverty. His second book titled The Violent Gestures of Life was published in 2014.
