Fans can dust off their dancing shoes because DJ Munei Netshiozwi, famously known as Givergivero in the entertainment world, has released his long-awaited extended play (EP) album, Just Believe.
Givergivero is a prolific DJ with a huge fan base. Born and bred at Tshitereke village near Donald Fraser Hospital, he is a true example of how hard work, perseverance and dedication can lead to great success. An IT graduate from Boston Media House, Givergivero had played an integral part in the South African entertainment industry over the years, delivering high-profile performances across the country. His music enjoys fair airplay on nearly every national and regional radio station in the country.
Given his background, to see him making waves wherever he goes is not all that surprising. Givergivero grew up in a musical family, where his elder brother inculcated his love of music. “My elder brother would play music all day long over weekends and that was where I fell in love with it. When he was not there, I would operate his sound system, and the rest is history.”
The new EP contains five thrilling songs, namely the title track, Just Believe (featuring Tendy), Why Ni So (featuring Caba and Mavenda), Nzeke nzeke (featuring Bra Mido, Rendy da Deep and Pushie Da Tall), Searching (featuring Gintonic da Coly and Zonaka Yapie and It is well (featuring Tendy). “The EP contains Mapiano and Afro-House music to accommodate those who love a variety of music,” he said.
Givergivero, who doubles as music compiler for Vhembe FM, says his extended play is a New Year’s gift to all the fans who have been supporting him through thick and thin.
He encourages young, budding musicians not to give up on their dreams. “The entertainment industry needs someone with a big heart. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but giving up is not an option. Besides that, the important thing is to get an education first, so that you have something to fall back on when you hit a snag in the entertainment industry.”
