Life is not predictable. Some people judge or make assumptions about someone’s future based on their current circumstances, yet the wheel of life keeps turning, leading some in different directions. This is the message from a 21-year-old singer from Musina, Muelelwa Annalia Matamela.
Born into a poor background, Matamela fell in love with singing at the age of 14. “I had already realised that some people quickly jump to conclusions about one’s life, and this prompted me to vent my thoughts through singing,” she said.
Inspired by Razie Kay and Meskay, who are known for their hip-hop, RnB, deep house, and soul music, Matamela ventured into serious singing in 2020. In 2021, she released her debut song, Vhusiwana (suffering).
With a passion for music, Matamela dreams of transforming her family’s life through her singing career.
Her memorable moments include sharing the stage with well-known artists such as Makhadzi, Mukosi, King Monada, and Josh Deep at the University of Venda.
With the support of her family, Matamela plans to release another song by the end of November or early December.
