Fans of the “King of VenRap,” Mizo Phyll, cannot stop singing the praises of his latest musical offering, a 14-track LP titled “It Was Written”, which was released on 12 September.

Born Livhuwani Aubrey Ratshiungo, Mizo Phyll hails from Maniini Block J and is one of Vhembe’s most accomplished musicians. He is not only a well-established and highly popular rapper but also a talented songwriter and entrepreneur.

With more than 12 years in the music industry, he boasts a collection of accolades, including winning the Best Tshivenda Hip Hop Track award at the SATMA awards in 2009 for his renowned single “Tshikandeledzi” and the Hip Hop Artist of the Year award at the FAME SA awards in 2015.

Through his unique fusion of genres and heartfelt lyrics, Mizo Phyll has always managed to connect with his fans, who are scattered all over the Vhembe region and beyond. It was evident from the moment his new album hit the airwaves that this was going to be something special, as usual.

The singer said he had truly poured his heart into this music project. “It took significant effort for me to bring this project to life, but I am receiving exceptional feedback from my fans.”

According to him, the album serves as a testament to a story that has always been written, as the title “It Was Written” suggests. “It was written that I would rise to such grand heights in music and, against all odds, become the pioneer that I am today, still achieving what I set out to be,” he said.

Songs like “A Thi Imi,” “Lufuno Lwanga,” featuring the ever-talented vocalist Slimm, and “Ojo Lewa,” featuring Una Rine, are among the most popular tracks on the album.
