Queen of radio Lady T leaves Vhembe FM after four years

After a 13-year tenure at various radio stations, Tendani Mushasha bade farewell to hordes of loyal listeners on Friday, 15 March, marking an emotional day for her, her listeners, and her colleagues as she presented her last show.

The celebrated radio personality from Ngovhela outside Thohoyandou could not hold back the tears during her final broadcast on Vhembe FM. Lady T, as she is commonly known, hosted the popular morning breakfast show “Vhuragane 360” airing Monday to Friday, and also presented “Mvuseledzo”, which was broadcast on Sundays. Reflecting on her radio journey and her time at Vhembe FM, Lady T expressed gratitude for the opportunities she had been given.

“I was fortunate to start at The Voice of Thembisa in 2008, where I worked for four years. That laid the foundation for a brighter future, and the rest is history,” she said. Regarding her tenure at Vhembe FM, she described this as a well-travelled journey.

“I will miss radio; it has been part of my life for many years. I will miss my listeners and my colleagues. To the youth, I say learn not to give up on your dreams because it is through your dreams that you can achieve your goals,” Lady T remarked.

Vhembe FM’s acting station manager, Mr Mukhethwa Ravhuhali, praised her as a hardworking presenter who had contributed immensely to the phenomenal growth of the radio station. “We bid her farewell with mixed emotions, saddened that she is leaving us and wishing her well in her future endeavours. She has been an exemplary worker all these years, and we will miss her,” he said.

Lady T’s radio career began at The Voice of Tembisa in 2008, where she stayed until 2012. She had stints at Makhado FM, Univen FM, the national Department of Communications, before joining Vhembe FM in 2020, where she worked until 2024. Among her achievements, she received a nomination for the MTN Radio Awards in 2013 as Best News Reader in Limpopo. Additionally, she was nominated for the SATMA Awards in 2013 as Best Community Radio DJ.
