Lucky Mudogwa, better known as Uncle Podoski in the music industry and the creator of one of the most loved songs in the country, “Ngoho nga Mahala,” has announced that he has just recorded his latest offering, set to be released soon.

Podoski’s very first album, “O Tuwa,” was recorded in 2020. On the album, music lovers were taken aback by the song “Ngoho nga Mahala,” which continues to delight Rhumba music enthusiasts whenever it is played on the radio. This was evident when he performed during the birthday celebrations of fellow Rhumba artist Nkanukeni Zebulon Mbevhana at Khubvi Village a fortnight ago.

Speaking to Limpopo Mirror after his sterling performance, Podoski said he was influenced by Rhumba musicians such as Sakis and Kanda Bongo Man. He mentioned that he grew up listening to their music.

When asked about his stage name, Uncle Podoski, he explained that as a former soccer player, each time he scored, he used to do a Rhumba dance as a way of celebrating. “At home, my sisters and their kids called me Uncle, hence I named myself Uncle Podoski in the music industry,” he said.

The up-and-coming musician was born in Makonde Matavhanani. He said that since he had released the blockbuster hit “Ngoho nga Mahala,” he was always booked for live performances on weekends. “I work almost every weekend, so if you want to book us, do it on time. I promise Rhumba music lovers that they will enjoy my next offering, as we spent at least three years working on the album,” he said.
