Leopards ready to maul the Callies

Black Leopards have reason to believe that they will resume their league programme with a bang when they host Pretoria Callies in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at the Thohoyandou Stadium next Wednesday, 14 February.

With 13 matches to play before the end of the season, Black Leopards are still on course for promotion. They are lying in the ninth position on the log standings with 23 points, seven behind the pace setters, Orbit College FC. A win for Leopards is likely to push the team to the seventh position on the log. As for Callies, the game will be a matter of life and death as Callies are currently perched in the 13^th position with 17 points, only one better than the tail-enders, Venda Football Club.

Lidoda Duvha’s right back, Tshepo Matsimbi, will watch the game from the grandstand. He was given his marching orders in their last league game against Milford FC, which was played at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Tuesday, 19 December. Black Leopards were beaten 2-4, with their Namibian international, Bethuel Muzeu, scoring a brace. Muzeu is the current leading goal scorer in the league. Tebogo Makobela will be expected to do the job in the absence of Matsimbi.

Black Leopards have recently bolstered their squad by acquiring the services of Donald Makgetlwa and Sedzani Mudau.

Venda Football Club will be away to meet Marumo Gallants at the Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark. The other fixtures are Baroka FC vs Platinum City Rovers, Upington City vs Hungry Lions, Orbit College FC vs Milford FC, Casric Stars vs Maritzburg United, JDR Stars vs Magesi FC, and NB La Masia FC vs University of Pretoria FC.
