The Thohoyandou Police are investigating a case of murder after the body of a 37-year-old woman was found lying next to a swamp near the Tea Estate in Khubvi village on Sunday.

According to the acting communications manager of the police in the Vhembe District, W/O Vuledzani Dathi, the police were alerted by members of the community about the body. “On arrival at the scene, the police were shown the body, which was lying in a pool of blood,” he said. Dathi added that during investigations, they discovered that the deceased had a bullet wound behind her ear.

The victim was dressed in a maroon and white woollen dress, a blue jacket, and a pair of black All Star sneakers. “The deceased was identified as Rofhiwa Muleya (37) from Mafhohoni village in the Mutale area,” he said.

Dathi mentioned that the motive for the murder was unknown and police investigations were ongoing.
