Two-year-old boy allegedly raped

News in brief - Date: 28 June 2024

The police in Thohoyandou are investigating a rape case after a 13-year-old boy had allegedly raped his two-year-old brother at Ngovhela village last Tuesday (18th).

According to the acting communications manager of the SAPS in the Vhembe District, W/O Vuledzani Dathi, the complainant is the biological father of the victim. The alleged rapist is his stepchild. The father said that when he returned from work, he found the children inside the bedroom, of which the door was locked. His wife was not yet at home.

He further alleges that his 13-year-old stepson was half naked and the underwear of his two-year-old biological son was on the floor. The complainant further alleged that his 15-year-old stepdaughter, who was sitting outside the room, had told him that her younger brother had been sexually assaulted for the past several days, and that she had been told that she would be beaten up if she told anyone about what had been taking place when the parents were not around.

The complainant took his son to the clinic and after he was examined by the doctor, he was confirmed to have been raped.

As a minor, the suspect is currently under the supervision of his parents at home.
