In a newly published book that had taken nearly a decade to research and complete, Tshilidzi Nembvumoni expands on the history of the Vhurivhuri people and their chieftainship quest. Nembvumoni, a resident of Vhurivhuri, said the research for his book, “Divhazwakale ya Vhurivhuri”, took a long time to complete, mainly because of challenges in verifying information.

A new state-of-the-art clinic was officially opened in Thengwe Thondoni, in the Mutale area, on Monday, 15 April. The new clinic replaces the old clinic, which was built by missionaries in the 1940s but was no longer conducive to being used. The new clinic will deliver medical services to 12 of the adjacent villages, such as Bashasha, Makhwilidza, and Maheni. These villages fall under Thovhele Vudzidzhena Nethengwe. The clinic will be open 24 hours per day, which means that patients will no longer have to travel long distances to access health-care services.

The Crestcare Zoutpansberg Private Hospital in Louis Trichardt has come under new management with the appointment of Mr Kobus Nel as acting hospital manager. He took over last week from Ms Anneke Stroebel, who has been part of the hospital’s history for almost two decades now.

Venda Football Club (VFC) has reason to be concerned after suffering a humiliating 1-2 defeat against Orbit College FC in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday. In Louis Trichardt, two young cyclists are training to compete in what is arguably the world’s toughest mountain-bike stage race, the annual Cape Epic. They aim to make history as the first  team from Vhembe to compete alongside the world’s best mountain bike riders. Their biggest challenge, however, is to find sponsorship to cover their cost of travelling to Cape Town, something that would not have been necessary if the funds allocated for cycling development in Limpopo had not been stolen.

Gundo Budeli, a learner from Mpfariseni High School in Malamangwa village, has written a poem that he dedicated to Cyril Ramaphosa, and his only wish is for an opportunity to recite it to the president in person.
