The Limpopo Department of Health said they were working closely with the Border Management Authority (BMA), an entity that, among others, has the mandate to monitor the movement of goods and services through the borders of South Africa. This comes after the department released a statement on Monday, 15 January, confirming two cases of cholera in the province.

On Friday, 8 December, the residents of Bungeni village witnessed the unveiling of the rehabilitated grave of the late Chief Surprise Bungeni. The presence of the Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture, Ms Nocawe Mafu, added a touch of prestige to the occasion. Dennis Charles Ball, one of the pioneers in our community, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday morning, 20 November, at the high-care facility of Our Home, Louis Trichardt, from natural causes associated with Alzheimer’s and ageing.

Roshini Pakkiree has once again made Louis Trichardt and its people proud. She was chosen as one of the Top 10 in the Mrs South Africa Pageant on Friday, 17 November, at Emperor’s Palace, where the event took place. Earlier this year, the Zoutpansberger wrote about Roshini, who had entered this competition. “I was excited right from the start of this journey. History was made, and I was part of this!”

Vhembe’s “granny” soccer team achieved remarkable success by winning the soccer category at the Limpopo Golden Games, defeating the Mopani District team 4-0 in the final. The tournament, designed to engage senior citizens in sporting activities, took place at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on 15 November.

The correct answer to the photo clue given was that of Louis Trichardt’s oldest Muslim mosque, the Louis Trichardt Town Masjid in Kruger Street. The mosque has its origins with the first Muslim families who moved into the Zoutpansberg in the late 1800s, around the same time as the establishment of the town of Louis Trichardt in 1899.
