Air Force Base Makhado Golf day in aid of cancer patients a success

Air Force Base Makhado hosted their annual cancer-awareness golf day once again at the Soutpansberg Golf Club on 28 October to raise much-needed funds for the Makhado Care Group, an organisation that is making a difference in the lives of cancer patients in communities around the Makhado municipal area.

The day’s activities saw 18 four-balls teams from various sponsors come together for a day of competitive golf, fundraising and fun. Following the golf tournament, participants were ushered to a dinner reception and presentation of awards to the top participants at the clubhouse.

“It was a beautiful day in Louis Trichardt and one could have not asked for a better day to host this event. Clear skies and calm, hot weather were the order of the day and participants were treated to near perfect golfing conditions as they teed off to raise funds for a worthy cause,” said the organisers.

“The day would have not been successful if it were not for the support of our sponsors,” said Maj Gen Lance Mathebula of South African Air Force (SAAF) headquarters as he thanked all the sponsors who had made the day a success during the prize-giving function. The sponsors included SAAB, AVBOB, AutoZone (Louis Trichardt), Water 2000, CSIR, Incomar, Oasis, Old Mutual, Auto Pedigree Service Centre (Louis Trichardt), Bolt and Nut (Louis Trichardt), Leach Printers, Easy Photo Book (Louis Trichardt), Bidfood (Polokwane) and the Soutpansberg Flying Club. Genl Mathebula also thanked the Makhado Care Group for doing what most people would not dream of doing, namely supporting cancer patients around the area when they have no one or nowhere else to go.
